☆ Sports in Australia 2: What do you mean when you say football?

前回Blakeが「football」について書いてくれましたが、
ちょっと難しかったので、今回はちょっとした解説です。
オーストラリアでは「football」と言っても
沢山の種類を指すようですね。
オーストラリアフットボール、ラグビー、
アメリカンフットボールにサッカー。
困惑するのも当たり前！
オーストラリアの人達も、どのfootballについて
話しているのか確認するようですから。

The situation with football in Australia is a little
complex. Basically, people in different parts of Australia
mean different sports when they talk about football. When
I was a child, if you said football in Melbourne, you
meant Australian Rules Football (Australia's original sport).
If you said football in Sydney, you meant Rugby League,
or sometimes Rugby Union.Now the different types of
"football" have teams in many cities in Australia, so
people are a little more careful when they say
"football". It is common to check which sport the
person is talking about (e.g. "Do you mean Australian Rules,
Rugby League, Rugby Union, or Soccer?").
I have not included American Football, aka Gridiron.
It is not so popular in Australia, but many sports
fans enjoy the Superbowl broadcast every year.
My favorite type of football is Soccer. It is the one
football where the players spend more time kicking
the ball rather than touching it.
