☆ Just leave the car door open and the engine on!

外国人が日本で感じた不思議なこと。
今日は鍵をかけずに車の中で眠るトラック運転手（笑）
についてお話ししましょう。
その無防備さにクリスティーナは驚いたようですね。

Living in Japan is a never-ending experience
of surprises and strange situations. One of
the most outstanding strange things is
when trucks and cars are parked in the street,
with the doors open and the engines on!
If this happened in Australia or America, many
people would have their trucks or cars stolen.
But it is a very ordinary, everyday situation
where I live. So many trucks and cars are empty
in Japan, but the doors are not locked and
the engines are still running. Sometimes I don't
know why people do this in Japan?

A long time ago in Australia many people used to
leave their car doors open. But now they lock them
because it is too risky.

Outstanding=Highly amazing, unusual, extra different, etc.
=優れた、抜群の
ordinary=普通の、並の
Running=Engines are not turned off, they are kept on.
=（プログラムなどが）作動している
Stolen=Taken away by another person without asking.
=盗まれた

写真はクリスティーナが実際に撮ってきたものです。
夜間運転している運転手は、こうして昼間に休憩するしか
ないのですよね。
窓を開けて、あるいは冷暖房をつけ、鍵もかけずに眠るのは
外国人にとっては無防備なのでしょう。
しかし、無人で鍵が開いている車ならともかく、
トラック野郎達（笑）が中で眠っている車を奪おうとはとうてい
思いませんが・・・。
日本はまだまだ安全なのでしょうかー？？
