今日の諺は
「you reap what you sow」です。
日本語にすると、自分で蒔いた種
つまり自業自得という意味になります。

'You reap what you sow' is one of the oldest,
but one of the wisest proverbs you can learn
and use. It has a powerful message. It means
that whatever you do, whether it is bad or
good, you will get back what you have done.
So if you do something bad, you will get
something bad in your life. If you do something
good, you will get something good in your life.

reap - 収穫する、刈る
sow - 蒔く

自業自得というと悪い意味にのみ使うように思いますが、
「you reap what you sow」は良い状況にも使います。
例えば「You worked hard last night. You reap what you sow」
と言えば、昨日頑張ったんだから代わりに得る物があるよ、という感じ。
