I wouldn't be seen dead in that shirt!

今日の新しい表現は、
「wouldn't be seen dead」
「絶対嫌だ、死んでも〜したくない」
というような意味合いです。

Ever heard of the expression:
'I wouldn't be seen dead in that' shirt!
It simply means that the clothing looks
absolutely terrible and you would not
want anyone to see you wearing it.
When you were a child did you have an
outfit or piece of clothing that you
didn't like wearing? Usually mothers
dress their kids in what they like,
but not always what their kids like.
For example, when I was a kid, my mom
use to make me wear a weird skirt
that was too wide with lots of square
designs on it. Then she would make
me go to the local shop to buy some
milk and bread and sometimes my
friends would see me and laugh at
the skirt, it was so embarrassing i
wanted to die or be swallowed up
by the ground! Now I can laugh about it,
but there's a lesson to be learned in
this story, that if you really don't like
wearing something, no matter how old
you are, you shouldn't have to be
forced to wear it. Nowadays, I wouldn't
be seen dead wearing something that
made me look like a circus clown!
