Middle Names

日本人にとってミドルネームは馴染みがありません。
通常は親や祖父母からミドルネームを取ったりするよう
ですが、ミドルネームがあるっていうのは
どんな感覚なのでしょう？

Middle names have been used in Western culture
before the 18th Century. They are very popular to
use when naming chidren after their parents or
grandparents. In some Western cultures, such as
England, many people have lots of middle names.
I met a guy from England a few years ago in Japan,
and he told me he had four middle names!
His university made him change his name, because
it was too long to write on his graduation paper!
Middle names can have special meanings or the sound
can sometimes be important to parents. Some
children get teased (bullied) at school, because
their middle is strange. Old fashioned middle names
such as 'Florence' or 'Augustus' are not recommended
for this reason.

現地の名前と日本の名前を組み合わせた時くらいでしょうか？

Surprisingly, Japanese parents don't usually give
their children middle names. Only the first name is important.
