Body parts expressions
日本にも体の一部が入った表現がありますが、
英語にもそういった表現があるようです。
There are so many funny, semi-serious and
meaningful body parts expressions, here are
some basic expressions that you might find
useful.
*He is a pain in the neck=He is annoying
*He is the apple of my eye=
He is cherished by me
*Keep him at arms length=
Don't have a close relationship with him
*He got a leg up=He got a recent promotion,
but he didn't get it on his own merits
*He has foot and mouth disease=
He can never be careful with his words,
he has no self-control
*I hope he keeps his chin up
=I hope he doesn't give up

「give up」したら沈んじゃいます!という意味で
「chin up(あごを上げる)」=「諦めない」なんでしょうか?
*He's all ears at every meeting
=He listens extra hard to people at
the meetings
*His eyes are bigger than his stomach
=He ate too much
*She's head over heels about him
=She is so in love with him
*They are knee high and shoulder deep
in financial debt=They are in big trouble
because of money problems
annoying=うっとうしい
cherish=〜を大事にする
=Deeply cared about by someone
Promotion=Getting a better job
日本語にも似たような表現がありますね。
「目に入れても痛くない」なんかは
目を使うところが似ています。
