Halloween around the world

明日はハロウィン！
ハロウィンはあまり日本では馴染みがないですが、
アメリカだけでなく色々な国で大きなイベントに
なっているようです。

So many countries celebrate Halloween,
not just in the USA!

Canada: Canadians enjoy trick or treat by using
decorated pumpkins called 'Jack-O'-Lanterns'
and like to dress up as witches, ghosts and beasts.

Mexico, Latin America, Spain: These three countries
celebrate Halloween for three days, and have a
similar Obon style like Japan. They honor their past
dead.

China: Surprisingly, China has a Halloween festival
that remembers the dead family members called
Teng Chieh. Selected food and water is placed
next to dead family members photographs.

Ireland: Believe it or not, Ireland is the first country
in the world to introduce Halloween. Americans and
Canadians celebrate Halloween exactly like the
traditional Irish Halloween.

ハロウィンの起源はアイルランドなのですね。
てっきりアメリカ発だと思っていましたが、アイルランドでも
仮装した子供達が近所を回るのでしょうか。
