Using 'it's a...' with imagination

中級の方からよくご相談頂く悩みは
文法を考えすぎてスムーズに話せない
ということです。
確かに最低限の文法は必要ですが、
ある程度英語が分かるようになったら
文法を気にせずに言葉を発することも大切です。
Christinaが言うように、自分の感情等を
「it's ...」で表現する練習をしてみましょう。

Ok so most Japanese know their grammar
very well, but many would like to learn how to
use key phrases with some imagination. So
here's a nice little everyday phrase that is
often used for happy occasions. For example,
someone has a baby, they can announce the
baby's gender by saying: 'it's a boy or it's
a girl' which means something very exciting
in English as it's usually the very first
announcement made to friends and relatives
or in newspaper articles. Often when people
have birthdays they may say something like
'it's my 21st birthday' or 'it's a birthday
celebrating my 21st'. Sometimes people
who have graduated from university express
their happiness by saying 'it's a great day,
it's my graduation!' Many times married
couples celebrate their wedding anniversary
and say to their friends and family 'it's our
25th wedding anniversary today!' for example.
Remember, use English with imagination and
try not in to talk in a robotic style.

occasion=機会
gender=性別
Robotic style=not a natural way of talking
