語彙力を上げることは、どのレベルの方にも
共通してあげられる英語に対する悩みです。
学生時代に単語帳を作って暗記したと思いますが
膨大な数の単語の内、今でも覚えているのは
いくつでしょうか？
暗記という方法は、確かに一時期は覚えられます。
しかしほとんどが短期記憶にはいるので
ずっと後になっても覚えていることは少ないです。

日本には色々な英語の本がありますが、
ほとんどの本には「単語だけ覚えようとするのでは
なく、文章の流れや文全体から単語の意味を
捉えよう」と書かれています。

文章から覚えると、どういった状況で、どういった意味で
使われているのかイメージから捉えやすいからです。

Instead of playing with your mobile phone,
read a book, magazine, or news article.
Did you know more people play with their
mobile phone than read books these days?
In Australia, more people spend time
watching television every week rather
than read books. Reading is very important.
Why you may ask? Because if you don't
read English books or articles you won't
grow in your knowledge. You can develop
a more indepth understanding of how to
use vocabulary by reading sentences and
situations. Situations show the reader
(you) when to use the key words, how to
use them, and why you should use those
words. Bella has many books to choose
from, so please take a look next time you
come here! Set a goal and read a book
every two weeks if you are very busy.

いくつ分からない単語が出てきましたか？
分からない単語が出てきたからすぐに辞書をひくのではなく
分からない単語の前後の文章、
全体像から意味を想像してみましょう。
また、同じ単語がいくつか出ているかもしれません。
文章全体から意味を推測することも重要です。
